Huangshiqiao ancient town situates 24km west of Fenghuang city, originated in Tang dynasty with 1300 years history, it served as a military fort against miao minority tribe's uprisings, it is one part of south great wall which was war frontier between central government and Miao minority. The old town was made of big stones, some of which weighing 2000kg. The town wall is 686m in circumference, with an area of 29070sqm, it is well preserved.
